Do subscribers matter anymore?

Hi guys,

So recently I hit 151 subscribers, which is really freaking cool! But each time I upload a video I only get ⅓, maybe ⅔, of those subscribers actually watching the videos.

I just wanted to discuss whether, if not all the subscribers are watching the videos, subscribers really matter anymore.

I'm really interested in hearing your opinions/experiences,

Much love!

It varies depending on your content. If you're a vlogger or a gamer, subscribers are going to matter a lot more than if you're someone who makes animal videos or, say, cooking tutorials.

I'm a vlogger, but its really disheartening when I see that view count

lol @ subs don't matter comments. Of course they matter. Assuming they're active, they are the most important thing you have. Why? Because that burst of high retention views in the first week a video is live (watch time, watch time, watch time) determine it's placement in the search as well as featured video content which is where the real bulk of the views come from.

For those with inactive subscribers, it's because you trained them to be that way. A consistent upload schedule trains the viewers to keep coming back at set intervals. If they don't check back frequently knowing you're going to have new content, then your new stuff that does get uploaded will be lost in their subscriber feeds. It's really that simple.

It depends. If you want to be "successful" then subs are mega important. I try to not get caught up in how many people are subbed, but how many people watch my videos/engage with me. They're who I make my videos for.

Also, lol @

as if subscribers are dogs, being rewarded with "new content".

Okay, I'll solve this equation.

Views=good. Subs=views. If Views=good and Subs=Views, then Subs=good. There ya go. lol

If one feels their subscribers are that low, I suppose they could come to that conclusion. The fact remains that subscribers being exposed to and expecting new content on a schedule, dramatically increases the likelihood of them returning based on that schedule. No schedule, on the other hand will result in the opposite effect.
