I must have not been clear. URL shorteners like bit.ly and goo.gl are safe to use on YouTube as the link will go directly to the intended site. URL shorteners like adf.ly are not allowed as those go to a middleman ad page first before directing.

Example: You made a video about, in OP's case, video templates and you wanted to include a download link. The service you are using gives huge URLs that are crazy long so you want to use a short URL to redirect to the download link. In the video, you mention there is a download link in the description that viewers can access.

Here is where the differences come into play:

1. You use a bit.ly/goo.gl link to download. YouTube is okay with these as the link goes directly to the download page.
2. You use a adf.ly link to download. This is not okay as the link goes to a page of ads before going to the download page.

Use of redirection URLs that go somewhere other than the original destination is considered deceptive (and violates the TOS).

Hope that's correct! Because I have quite a lot of bit.ly links on my channel and it would take some time to change all of it...

I've seen bit.ly links go to affiliate landing page links; and channels killed for that by YouTube, also. Just recently, I found a thread on the YouTube Help Forum where Google itself had killed a goo.gl link leading to an affiliate landing page. YouTube absolutely hates any form of affiliate marketing, unless it is from a YT Approved Vendor.

I always thought the bottom line with networks is making money. I know Youtube itself has a monetization program.... but people always say the networks earn you more money.

I joined the Social Blade network (BBTV_SocialBlade) a couple weeks ago and it did Absolutely Nothing to help my channel. Everything they said they'd do to optimise my channel is complete rubbbish. So, still being in the 30 day no lock-in trial, I requested to leave the network. I waited a few days, but it got declined. I tried again, still got declined. Not a single human being has contacted me from SocialBlade since i've joined. I've messaged them on their customer support and am waiting for a response. My 30-day trial is going to end in a week so it looks like I'm getting stuck in their 1-year contract then.

Verdict: DO NOT join SocialBlade's MCN!

Well I thought they were a good network, guess I was wrong. Thanks for pointing this out, I will tell this to my buds!
