Do New Comments = New Subscribers?

Probably 50/50 so far.

But the annoying thing is some people have their subscriptions private.

So even if they leave a comment and then your subscriber count goes up by 1. You can only guess that its them, because you cant see who it was in your subscriber list.

looking at the last 28 days, 1 out of 6 comments subscribe
not too bad if you consider a lot of those comments will be replies and chains

Pretty hit or miss on my channel. But I feel that part of that was the mixed messaging and branding that my channel had before my revamp this week. Even if they liked one video, by visiting my channel page they might have left confused as to what the channel was. That said, there have definitely been a few times where a sincere followup or answer to a question led to a subscription.

More important, I've seen a trend with comment frequency. As I respond to almost every comment, most people see that and comment more. Thar drives up engagement, blah blah blah analytic metric stuff...

Depends what kind of comment it is. I have had a number of people comment and subscribe with the expectation that I'll subscribe back. They hang around for a few days then unsub when they realise I'm not into sub4sub.
Genuine comments where we get into a conversation and they seem to have genuinely been watching the video and listening to what I'm saying tend to result in a real sub.

Not when the comment is something like "Hey, grat video! Why don't you have a look at mine too and tell me what you think!"
Bahahaa, no I was not referring to Sub for Sub garbage comments, haha.... grat comment ;)[DOUBLEPOST=1453313462,1453313385][/DOUBLEPOST]
Not really.
Most of my subscribers doesn't comment on my videos.
Sad, I like interacting with my fans... do you talk with them ore on other social outlets?[DOUBLEPOST=1453313736][/DOUBLEPOST]

Youtube Algorithms, Blah Blah Blah, haha... obviously this will boost SEO... I just think when you respond to comments, people think "oh, this guy actually reaches out to the fans" and it makes it more fun for them, more incentive to subscribe.... Big Youtubers replying to comments is hit or miss... or they just don't... the fact that they can reach out to us and we'll respond is part of the viewer experience... in my opinion, haha[DOUBLEPOST=1453313863][/DOUBLEPOST]
I've only had 1 or 2 comments with the whole "your contents similar to mine come and check it out". I tend to ignore those ones but whenever someone actually does comment I respond ASAP
These comments are annoying... I wasn't really referring to spammy trash water comments like this ;) hahaa, but yes, annoying as hell[DOUBLEPOST=1453314031][/DOUBLEPOST]
I would say so, yes, in 95% of cases. But I've already had people comment (positively) who were never seen again, and people who indicated they were "observing" my channel and subscribed weeks later.
Observing from a far..... creepin basically ;) bahahaha, actually now that I think about it, I think I observed your channel for a few vids over the week until I eventually caved and subscribed ;) hahaha So I guess I get it
