Do I need a Windscreen/Pop Filter

Moonschool

Birmingham.
Hey guys, so I record on the Youtubes but do I need any (or both) of these to improve my videos. Sometimes when I say P or B in the video, it will make like a little bit of an air pop type noise (guessing that is what a pop filter is for), but do I need both of these or should I only get one of these? Advise?

You should try a wind shield first and see how that goes :)

And yes, the pop filter does prevent the pops hence the name, you should try it out if it's more of a pop than a blow :P

Before investing in a pop filter, try changing the position of the mic. You shouldn't be speaking into a mic. You should be speaking over it or past it. Move the mic so it is at a 45° angle from your mouth, but at the same distance and try again. The exhaled air should not be hitting the mic.

I'm so glad to see others giving this advice.

The problem is my microphone isn't that loud, so I have to be close to it.

I had a blowing problem in the past, and now my mic is positioned about an inch away and below my lips. It is attached to a headset so it is pretty easy to adjust. Good advice.
