Dead subs

Would you rather dead subs be deleted after a while?

I've been noticing more and more major channels have anywhere from 500k to 1.5 million subs, but only about 20k to 40k views on the last 50 videos they made. do you think the dead subs misrepresent how popular a youtuber actually is? or is the subscribe button just another thumbs up button instead of a commitment to the channel? thoughts?

This sums up my thoughts really; I mean ya it be nice to have all your subs watch the videos you make but they won't and we know this. So when they do sub it is mostly a thumbs up to you and a commitment in the sense they will watch when they can if ever. We all have lives after all :unsure: .

I think that's a big problem, when people subscribe to more than they have time for.

If "when they can if ever" means longer than a year, then i think it's pretty pointless...
 
I subscribe to folk, and I don't have the time to watch every video. So in a way it is a like. But, I don't subscribe to a channel just because. I genuinely like the content, and when a good video comes along I'll watch it.

If it takes more than a year before they put out a video you like, is it still a genuine commitment? Would a like not suffice in that it will make the video easy for you to find later should you wish to re-watch it?

It is what it is you can't make people commit to anything even if you would like to. Youtube, Twitch, or anything like this there are always ebbs and flows. You just need to let it be and enjoy the active people and not worry over the sub number. Because in the end it don't matter with YouTube using view time.

I was under the impression that views were only one of many factors that boost a videos relevance. Youtube is always changing though, I never can keep up...
