CPU Noise When Rendering

30's are low. Really makes no diffrence if the CPU is running at 30 or 50 at full load. Only worry if it is in the 80-100's :D

You need to look at the operating specs of the CPUs to see what's safe. I've seen max operating temperatures listed as low as 60-65 deg C and some as high as 80 deg C. There are plenty listed in-between.[DOUBLEPOST=1429656110,1429654580][/DOUBLEPOST]
Thanks for the replies guys! Yes thermal paste was applied, new heat sink came with processor. So i guess the general consensus is that its my heat sink.

If you have noisy fan I don't think the heatsink is going to be your problem unless you overclocked your system. It could be something as simple of bad bearings in the fan or it's slightly loose fan that's rattling the heat sink.

If you're complaining that the fan is too loud, try a better fan. Some fans have a lower dB rating than others with the same rotational speed.

When it comes to fans you have a Triangle between Air Flow, Rotation Speed, and loudness (dB). If you adjust any one of these, one of the others will improve and the other will get worse.

For air cooled systems, a heat sink with more surface area will always be better. If you have no good way to expel the exhaust heat, no amount of heat sink will fix than. The hot air will just circulate in the box.

Also look at your air flow in and out of the box. Replace noisy fans with slower or better built ones. Keep an eye on your temps when you do this. Look at read outs from your computer or use a multimeter with temp probe.

The motherboard could be stupid where X% load on CPU = %RPM of fan, irregardless of actual temp. I have UPS that does that and they put in a 75 CFM 45dB fan. It's was stupid loud and temps didn't change when I put in a slower fan in it.
