I've read the little (really damn long) box thing multiple times explaining everything, but I STILL cant get my head around what it really means, could someone explain it a little more simply? Cheers

Monetization = putting ads on your channel and videos.
So you can earn YT$$.

Leave it until you are eligible for a partnership.
OR, activate monetization on your channel, dont monetize any videos so you can get the custom thumbnails before the partnership.
