Copyright infringement problem

Hi all

I was looking to get a bit of advice from the forum and hoped someone here could point me in the right direction, (apologies if I'm posting this in the wrong section).

I work for a company called Cruisedotco and we've had our own YouTube channel for a while now. Over the last couple of years the channel has been managed by several different people and we have just had a copyright infringement notice.
The video was uploaded by an ex-employee and has now been removed, (we were unaware the video was even there), but we revived a copyright complaint today. I'd like to get in touch with the person to apologize and ask them to remove the complaint, (now the video has been taken down).

YouTube has provided very little information about the complaint, just the persons name, (not their YouTube name). I can't find where the original video came from as it's now been deleted so can't resolve the copyright issue. I'd prefer not to wait the six months for the strike to be wiped from our account - Does anyone have any ideas?

Many thanks

You preferring not to wait 6 months does not effect the waiting period, is a automated system, no real person is sitting there clicking buttons.

As I understand it I can request the complaint be retracted by the person that originally complained but now the video has been removed I've no idea on how to get in touch with them

Unfortunately Sinc is right. You'll need to be patient and the knock against your account will fall off. Just be thankful that they didn't remove your account entirely!

In the mean time, I would suggest creating a secondary account for the company - one that will remain secure with a very slight change of name. Like "Cruisedotco2"

You'll just have to wait the normal 6 months for the strike to disappear, I believe that you may be able to contact youtube about it however the chances are that they won't do anything about it.

Thanks everyone, I had a feeling that would be the case :-(

Does anyone have a contact email if I wanted to request more information about the complaint from YouTube - I can't find one on the site

If you removed a video:

If you're a content owner and wish to retract a copyright infringement notification, please make sure that you send us the following information:
  1. A statement of retraction (such as "I hereby retract my claim of copyright infringement")
  2. The complete and specific URL of the video in question (like: youtube(dot)com/watch?v=xxxxxxxxx)
  3. An electronic signature (typing your full legal name will do)
Please submit your retraction to copyright@youtube(dot)com from the same email address that was used to submit your original claim of infringement. If the email address is different, we may be unable to process your retraction.

Ta da :3
