Content Creation Workflow Research

Hey guys,

I'm pretty new to the scene and I've been wondering what type of processes you use to take your videos from an idea through to a video on your channel.

The reason I'm asking is to better understand the workflow that content creators use. Is there some kind of standard way of doing things or does everyone kinda have their own way of doing things?

Any help you could give me would be amazing, thanks in advance.

Apologies if I'm in the wrong section, I just figured that this was a question about video production and the processes behind them, not necessarily the specifics of video editing but more to do with the overall process.

Honestly, it depends on what sort of content you plan on doing, because there are so many variables.

What sort of variables are there or is it too many to count?

Do you think there's some sort of universal process that could be applied to the video creation process?

I'm going to need to know what sort of content you plan on making before I can tell you that, because there are many video creation processes, each being different varying through the types of content that exist.

Well I'm more asking about a general process than about a specific type of content, more theorising than anything.

The main reason I ask is because I'm looking at creating a tool that would assist content creators in the process to help them become more efficient and I'm trying to find out if there is a real market for that or if it's an idea that needs scrapping.

As well as that I need to find out what the kinds of processes are so that I'll be able to build the right kinds of features and make it something that people would actually want to use.

So, maybe I should rephrase, In general, what are the key steps of taking a video from an idea to a finished product. If this varies between content creators greatly, do you think it would be a reasonable statement that content creators would benefit from a product that allowed them to organise their workflow (in their own specific way, however they do it) into a manner in which the video creation process is more efficient?

For me my current creation process (which I only really figured out recently after getting my hands on TubeBuddy) looks like:

- Think of some potential ideas, do keyword research for each idea using TubeBuddy, and find two potential main tags to target (one with the most traffic, and one with less but that's less competitive).
- Then I write those down in Excel and save them
- Next I take several idea and flesh them out, writing some key points I want to talk about in each video down
- Then I do more keyword research to figure out the rest of the tags my videos will use
- Then I craft a decently lengthy description for each video that describes the video and also includes the most important tags several times
- Next I record the videos themselves, a few at a time
- Then I edit (usually just one video at a time, although this might change in future)
- Make a thumbnail
- Upload, and either schedule for release or release right away

Then over the first few days I'll go back and look through my title/tags/description and how I'm ranking and see if there's anything I can improve. If there is, I change it accordingly.

Thanks for the feedback,

With regards to the second and third steps, do you feel you'd benefit from some kind of software that allowed you to keep track of all of those ideas of yours and assist you in creating a comprehensive plan for each video?
