Confused on how to proceed.

Hey guys!

Okay, so I am a newer gaming channel. I have a Starbound series going on, but I play a whole variety of games. So my question is, should I mainly stick with Starbound? Or should I record a whole bunch of different series? (Assuming that they are quality series and not just being rushed out.) Because I have wanted to start a Dark Souls II series as well as a few others! Do you guys think that would gain me more views? Or would it just alienate my tiny already established fanbase?

I would start new games that are like Starbound. They subscribed to watch Starbound. They unsubscribe because too much Starbound. They recommend others to your channel because you post games like Starbound as well. I would post game videos in the same genre.

I feel that variety is a good thing, so recording different games could be good for your channel. However, you should not record a ton of different ones to the point of your channel just getting confusing and sort of a mess. Keep it manageable and organized, and I think you'll be fine.

However above everything I just said, it is YOUR youtube channel. If you want to play and record different games, then do it! :)

Best of luck!

Got it. What I was thinking is maybe doing the ongoing Starbound series (since the game doesn't really end) and then having other series that actually end alongside it and then whatever other random videos I think of!

Your channel is very small to worry about keeping your subscriber base happy. My recommendation is, keep yourself happy. If you're enjoying it, by all means, do it and it will reflect to your videos, which will attract more subscribers. I would say stay away from the typical lets play style which already is overused, try to make it unique, don't give the viewer the chance to skip or close your video. Sure it brings in subscribers in short term, but I see so many gaming channels with high sub count with so low view ratio, I don't think it works out in the long run.[DOUBLEPOST=1402012045,1402011950][/DOUBLEPOST]You may also want to fix banner. Even on tablets it cuts off a good chunk of text, it will be worse on smartphones.

Oh wow I didn't even notice the banner was like that.. thanks! :D And yeah that is a great way to look at it. And I do plan on having more unique videos soon! Thank you!

You're welcome. Keep in mind that your attitude will always be more important than many other factors. While you're small, you have a lot of room to experiment. If you're not enjoying the type of content you're doing, no matter what it is, you will not grow. Keep changing things around until you and your viewers are happy.
