It really bugs me how you don't know whether a new comment is directly aimed at the video, or is a reply at someone else.

I just received a comment that said 'kill yourself'.

I was like WHUUUUT. So I click on my video and discover it was in reply to an idiotic comment from some homophobic, sexist, religious nut.

I wish YouTube would let you know before you think HOW DAAAARE YOU :giggle: all it'd take is 'in reply to [name here]'
 
That's a really good idea. I don't know because I don't have any comments yet, but in this comment inbox, does it have a reply to comment button? I'd be afraid someone seeing a comment like you did, thinking it was aimed at them, might reply angrily.

It does from the mobile site, but the reply goes to their inbox, not the page itself. On the proper website you have to go to the video page to see the comments.

It would at least help if it said 'this is a reply to another comment'. Once or twice now I've had comments of that nature and just before I planned a reply I realised that no, not for me haha.
 
yeah it's really annoying! I wish there is a way round it but I don't think there is any way of stopping people who don't know how to reply/bothered to read the howto page
 
Hasn't happened to me YET, but I would assume it would be very annoying, all it takes for YouTube is to edit that automated e-mail. :P
