Cloning people

Symph

I'm a dude with a face and I know how to use it.
How do you clone people? Like do you need a cloning machine, or do you just contact the death star? Or like, is it a special drink you get from a witch doctor? Or just, I need two of me to act in a video and currently unfornately there is only one of me, how do I make two.

LMAO in reality I just wanna know how you know how to time your acting with yourself when you clone yourself in a video. Like how do you know how long to pause and all that if you can't hear yourself.

Basically (not that I am a clone expert) but is something that I would like to mess with

So. You need to record scene 1 with you on the left side doing what you want to do. Then a separate recording on you on the other site doing you thing..

Now when you come to edit all this (and this is only very basic overview) you have your 2 scenes in the time line on different tracks. Line you shots up and then you will need to crop one of them till you can see your clone.

Not sure what software your using but search for this chap on youtube - Steve Johnson and his video called "how to clone yourself - Basic Technique " and that should help.

have fun

hahaha thanks for the serious reply I was hanging out with a friend and was going to ask this in a legitimate way but then asked silly for the fun of it, but my actual reason for bringing it up was timing. How do you "act with yourself" when you can't see yourself and know how long your lines lasted etc? That's actually be part that I wasn't sure about :P thanks though you did make the process of just doing it make a bit more sense :P

You could always get your self a life sized cardboard cut out as this would be hidden when you crop the video and then I would guess a lot of practice talking to yourself and just hope no one think you've lost the plot :O_o2:

So you don't think people find some way to cue themselves? I was hoping there was some secret way they keep their timing in tact... maybe I can think of something creative I dunno... sounds difficult hahaha

Humm.. Good question.. If its scripted then you could act it all out and time responses perhaps..
Might just do some google research, I get so used to asking the forum I forget that's even an option LMAO

Depending on your editing software, I assume you can do overlays? All you need to do is take each shot of you being each clone and pretty much cut out the area of the clone of each clip, overlapping with loads of people in one :D I did a tutorial on this on yttalk tv if it is any interest to you, it is done on after effects but the basic principles can be applied to any editing software :) Just make sure that the camera is in the same place for each shot otherwise it won't work, I recommend doing all clone characters in the one shot then just split up the clip into many. If you go into detail like rotoscoping you can end up making something that looks a bit like my avatar :P

While I appreciate that brodie, (I know I didn't make this clear I said everything in a joking way) what I'm truly trying to figure out is how I get my timing right when I act with myself. How do you cue yourself to know when to say each line?
