What do you call cheap bud?
Just got a panasonic one from Dubai and it's awesome but pretty expensive. Still, based on mine, the brand looks pretty good down to the lower priced ones.

Cheap like $500-$650
Was looking at some canons but not sure, don't recommend a Flip, we don't want one.

My wife is a profesional photographer and loves canon lenses. She says they are the best for a reasonable budget. Personally I would take a close look at the Panasonic low end models, like i say, I have had good results with mine

I'm using a camcorder, the Canon vixia hf r400, it's very cheap for $299 (249 on Amazon), it records at 1080p with a bit rate option of 17mbps,24k,35k. it also record in avchd format and can record at 60p.
user/filipinopranks is my channel, check out the quality but NOTE that the first video I was recording at 24mpbs and the second video was 17mbps both at full 1080p. I'm using that settings because I only have 8gb SD card.
