Channel Art/Banner Quality Downscaled?

I've created a few high-res channel art banners, but once uploaded, they look as though they've been downscaled in terms of quality, I create and export them with 5 scans in Photoshop ending up with an almost 1mb file, and they look great! But once uploaded, it's not the case.

Is it me, or does this usually happen?

Thanks!!

YouTube compresses the file so they can fit their mass amounts of data on the server. It should not look that significantly worse. What file format are you using?

PNG doesn't always work--even when it's within the size limit--but you can give that a try. It will make your banner quality look better. If the regular PNG is too big, try PNG-8.
If you must to do it as JPG, put it on the highest quality format possible.
