Capture Cards for Macs.

Anyone out there use a capture card that has a Mac? What are some good brands, and what should I look for in a capture card? Also how much is an average capture card? I'm not looking for anything fancy, just something that can record my xbox 360 in at least 720p, with no lag.

I'm not planing on buying one anytime soon, I can't afford to do so, but I do plan on getting one sometime in the future once I've saved up some money.

Any of the ones that work on PC work on Mac. They aren't exclusive. You just need capture software that is compatible.
If you want specific brands, Elgato or Avermedia would be the way to go.

Elgato is the best (and pretty much only to my knowledge lmao) capture card. Gives you 1080 crisp footage. Only advice, record audio separate. it'll lag otherwise. You can stream to twitch or youtube direct too!

Ah I see. I just figured there would be ones that didn't work for Macs. But what do you mean by capture software? Does that usually come with the capture card? Sorry if that's a noob question lol. I know nothing about this stuff.[DOUBLEPOST=1378166899,1378166851][/DOUBLEPOST]

When you mean record audio separate, do you mean my voice? or the game audio?

Usually they come with software. But sometimes the software isn't Mac compatible. For instance I own a Hauppauge HD PVR. It's software (TotalMedia Extreme) doesn't work on Mac. So I used the Elgato EyeTV 3 program to use it on my Mac instead. A bit of mixing and matching.[DOUBLEPOST=1378167068][/DOUBLEPOST]
Roxio ( as far as I know? Could be wrong) don't work on mac. Never tried the HDPVR software.

The software doesn't. The device itself does. You just need Mac compatible software. I use a HD PVR on my Mac even though the software isn't compatible.

Your voice. For e.g. I have a Mac and record my voice with Quicktime audio recorder and game with Elgato.

Ok that's what I figured, just wanted to be sure haha.

I did a quick google search and found this. Is this a good one? I don't know if there are different types or whatever.
