BroadbandTV: really, really, really lame CPMs? [BBTV and subsidiaries]

I am also another ex-TGN person that was shown this thread.

Can either of you guys provide any sort of indication of how the skimming works? Do they take 10% or 15% off the top for everyone? Or is it generally just "well this month we need $100,000 lets take enough from everyone equally to get that" or something different?

I assume it is fairly unknown even internally from what you said, so how did you find out about it?

I am also another ex-TGN person that was shown this thread. I am going to also remain anonymous. I did however work closely with George Vanous the former CEO of TGN. I will say that I have inside information, but must refrain from releasing it at this time.

I will share something though that is shocking:
I have moved on to another network and am fairly large. At TGN I got around $0.28 CPM and would get a check for around $30 a month. Since leaving and joining this other network, (I did nothing but switch mind you), I am making $8.90 CPM and make over $1000 a month. That is to illustrate just how much BBTV is stealing from their partners. Now take this out to a grand scale, and imagine how many millions they are stealing.

What blows me away is how much money they pump into their videos to keep production values up to keep up the charade. I cannot make a video about this but I do encourage others to do so. They need to be taken down because they are ruining people.

wth  btw what network you are in now? pm me if you don't want to post it thanks :)

People on this forum know significantly more than your average YouTuber .To you, this seems like a non sequitur, but to the average person they are just happy to be part of such a large network. TGN thrives on the ignorance of smaller channels. Unless they are made aware of how much they are being ripped off they continue to drink the koolaid. TGN excels at building esprit de corps, if you try to explain to the people still there the problems, your comments are instantly removed and you will be blocked. They thrive at hiding the facts from their masses.

Well not knowing it before hand is one thing. But if you get your monthly report and see 0.28 CPM most channels that have alternative options would close their account the same day. I'm even considering it even though I have nowhere else to go atm.

My question is why people don't just up and leave once they find out about the poor conditions? There is nothing keeping them there, after all.

I worked at a satellite office and telecommuted in. The other person may have better info. As stated before the reports for money are never disclosed. We, (as employees) would ask repeatedly for the update with the dashboard. Its now been over 2 years no dashboard and TGN spins it to look like that is an amazing feature. Its not, they are hiding the information from their partners pure and simple. I don't even know if Awall (the new CEO) knows what the real numbers are. Because if this its impossible to know what they are taking and its mostly anecdotal at best.

I cannot disclose my current network, nor my channel, sorry. BBTV is extremely litigious.

At the time I was with TGN there was a contract for a year, they just recently did away with it to no lock-in (February maybe?). And yes NOW I would have left after the first report. Realize though it does take a while to get out even when you ask repeatedly (sometimes 90 days).

HTH

All right, thanks for the info. bsimpson if you can answer from your own perspective as well, I'd appreciate it.

There are a few networks that offer very good CPMs (at least by comparison to those terrible numbers he quoted). I'm currently getting above $12 before splits (which is what I assume the $9 number is as well).

Why are all the larger channels I see on YTtalk always so secretive about which network they are with? Surely if you found a good network, regardless of acceptance requirements, there's no harm in sharing it? Or am I missing something?

Ok so in my tenure at BBTV the way the payments worked for VISO or TGN (btw the TGN 'CEO' doesn't control the payments) CEO is nothing more then a job title to make him sound important lol its the furthest thing away from an actual corporation or business, it is more like if you had a lemonade stand in your driveway and called yourself a CEO. There is no HR department nothing, just a rinky dink operation.

Anyways, all the payments are centrally controlled by 1 person the "VP" of BBTV, aka full grown adult male who sleeps in his bed all day and plays with his stuffed animals. - Anytime anyone tried to contact this fella to find out about terrible CPMs for partners that were brought in, they would either A) get no response B) after multiple requests get an aloof incoherent response with no direction on what to do C) get sent a link to a terrible youtube video he made ------- Essentially nothing was done catch my drift? Then recruiters would sit around and laugh and be like are you serious they are going to pay this guy a 40 cent CPM like wtf? Essentially the relationship between the partner and company was ruined before it even started.

The thing is as a partners since your advertising was now running through BBTVs CMS and only one person had access to that it is impossible to see what is actually being paid or validate it whatsoever.. That being said they could make up any number and say that is your CPM without having to validate anything.

Interesting revelation. But surely what they are doing is illegal (assuming you can prove it). Are they not more official instances to whom you can share your story about TGN and BBTV?

I decided to leave last week , if only I saw this before while there is no proof from the ex tgn post after a year being with them I believe most of it. Now just have to wait to be unpartnered.

If you know their channel name, you can use Social Blade to find out if they are with a network. It will be in the upper left-hand corner. If they choose to not reveal their channel name, just because they are with a network doesn't mean that they want to promote it.
