Botting. Necessary? Or pathetic and wrong?

I'm a dude with a face and I know how to use it.
Obviously there is some controversy in one of our threads about the moral aspect of botting. Botting is indeed cheating, no way around that. You are pretending to get views and subs that aren't real people viewing and subbing to you. It may sound like a no brainer "of course that's bad" but at the same time many of the top youtubers did it to get to where they are, and many people look at it as a necessary evil. In an attempt to get the attention off the other thread where this was being debated, I have made this thread for us all to discuss, so discuss!

I don't care if you say it in a thread for doing it. I was p****d cause that was just a thread where a guy offered the service and people were taking it, and I thought you were just gonna keep barging in there and giving your opinion or saying "why are you botting???" And stuff, so I figured we should make a thread FOR discussing it. In here you can rant about how much you hate it all the live long day and it won't bother me cause that's what this thread is for, and I REALIZE that you weren't doing what I thought you were doing so it's all good in that thread now. When I thought you were just jumping on people in that thread to me it was like if you were offering tips on how to download music off youtube videos and I kept jumping in there going "that's stealing that's wrong!! You shouldn't do that!!" When I should just make a thread giving my opinion.

I mean its not in the same thread or anything and I do agree with you...but you just said:

Because not everyone thinks it's a bad thing RAY!!! Some people think it's just the way the internet is, you gotta do what you gotta do to get on top. It's fine that YOU think differently but you don't have to keep ragging on the people who don't share your point of view! You're my bro, and nothing can change that, but just leave them alone! You're really starting to get on my nerves, like if you need to say something, make a rant about it! But stop picking on all the people who do it in this thread man! We GET IT, you think it's cheating, I personally do too, but I still understand their reasons for doing it! Make a rant, and leave people in this thread ALONE.

I mean I am just saying dude...I totally agree though they are cheating! But it makes it okay for you to say it because its in another thread? But when I say it it's baaaaaaad cause I'm a baaaaaad person lol.
 
I think it all comes down to the individual, YouTube is hard to get your name out on at present and buying subscribers, even dead accounts can make you appear more popular to those visiting your channel and the same with buying views, people tend to watch things with more views and can assume that low viewed videos have low views for a reason "theyre not popular", "theyre crap", "I doubt its even relevant to what I am searching" etc Not everyone thinks this way because they understand YouTube but many will only watch things with higher view counts so I can fully understand why people choose to do all of these things.

I dont believe such people are sad but they are desperate, not in a bad way but they are desperate for getting somewhere on their and thats one of the only ways they believe they can do it which is true for some people and their video content.

I think all in all, if you're not bragging about it, acting like such subscribers are real to others and no one is being harmed then people can do it for all I care, it is their decision and money. It is when you start behaving in such ways that people become offended or think things of it. I know if I was to do this personally I would feel kind of like a fraud if I was getting people saying how well I have done etc and I would probably feel like I dont deserve all the applause etc that comes with getting popular on there.

I do think that there are far more "pathetic" ways of getting views, things like girls being dressed scantily clad to try and get guys to view the video more and we all know that anything that hints at sex sells well. I think things like that people will obviously look down on you for doing because it is cheap really, I wouldn't go as far as hating on it though.

People can do what they want more or less to summarise, I wont be concerned.

Thats my thoughts on all of this :)
 
Let's stop the arguments between you two and let me explain:
There are two ways in which you can look at botting - 1. Botting is used for easy views as an eye opener for people, they use botting to encourage actual people to watch their videos; you see, if you want more subs then people are less likely to do so if our video has 10 views but if you have a couple hundred fake views then the person would be more inclined to sub. 2. There are the people who do this just for fame, they use botting to cheat the system and gain easy views early unfairly (this is how ray feels).

But then there is he case of these other websites that have real people wath videos of you do the same in return (this is what symph supports)

We all have our own opinions: no one should be getting angry at people using botting because its' their own choice. Myself, I'm against botting on a large scale however if you are offered a free sample that might end up helping you to have more popularity to gain subscribers, then what's to say no??

I'll give my opinion bro. I think it's cheating, and I equate it on the same level as like... dodging your taxes, or doing other things people commonly do that are not RIGHT, but many good people do them anyway. I would never bust in on a thread where people were taking an offer for botting and go "you're horrible!!" But in a thread made to do it, yeah man, I think you are much more respectable when you don't bot. But I don't think it makes you a bad person just cause you do.

I know nobody in the world should EVER get mad aye? Everybody love everybody huh? Makes me wanna puke. I'm done talking openly about this subject. You want proof you can cheat to become partner...you don't have to look that hard to find it...it's been on these forums. I'm sorry that doesn't p**s anyone off...
