Big guys hating on the little peeps :(

You want brutal honest truth on why large channels don't help smaller ones? Attitude. If you act like they owe you something, no one will will work with you-no matter what sub level you are at. Small channels seem to have that sense of entitlement way more than large ones. I've worked with channels that have less than 50 subs all the way up to the million sub level and the only ones I've ever had issues with are the small ones. They complain about everything and flake/reschedule and then act like they're doing me a favor by working with me. I've never had a large channel be anything but professional towards me, no matter what sub level my channel was at. You can call that stuck up/elitist/keeping small channels down, but it's good business to work with channels that will benefit mine and not cause any drama.
I have that exact same problem, I'm trying to collab with some 50-100 subs youtuber, and I get NO coperation, I'm all of a sudden on their schedule, and we can't just sit down, make like a ten minute or less video, and be friends. Nope, they hold it off, and off, and off. Until I finally just say you know what, I'm sorry but this isn't going to work out. And the worst part is was they asked ME to collab, and then they make me go through all these hoops, not worth it at ALL. Thats why I want to get bigger so my collabs can be down with even just a freaking ounce of professionalism.

Are they always kids/teenagers that give you this kind of bull? Or is it the ethos of the smaller youtuber in general that they are destined to always be small because they would rather watch TV than stick to a meeting time and actually have some integrity?

I'm getting quite interested in this experience range that people have had with the attitude of smaller channels. Its pure anthropological research, I aint hating :)

I wonder if anyone here would make it bigtime, he or she would still make the time to come here or to help the little youtubers out, probably not sadly.

The ages I've worked with is mostly teen-twenties. I haven't really bothered to ask, or have gotten asked from anyone over 25. Haha, cause I guess I'm in the category of probably giving someone else a hard time. Haha, I am a stupid teenager after all.

Unfortunately, this is just a matter of manners in general. We were working on a collab with someone who was bit larger than us. We'd been talking for a while about doing a sketch together we both really wanted to do. So we wrote up a script and both loved it. We set a deadline for when we wanted to have our clips recorded and everything was all set. Then the deadline passed and they said they needed more time. So we pushed it off a week. Then it came again and they said they needed another week. We pushed it off three weeks (and we really wanted to do the collab because we loved the YouTuber and our audiences would have meshed really well) but eventually they canceled and said they were too busy to do it. It's kind kind of weird when people agree to do something and start getting really flaky and weird about it. We're really committed to our channel, and I guess it's just hard to expect everyone to be the same and act professional.

Yeah, I guess if you are serious about YT and love to do it, you just have to try to wade through all the crap that goes with being small time on the road to hopefully getting larger one day, but I've had the same unprofessional collab crap and it really does p**s you off when you get delayed on releasing something you want your peeps to see and hopefully enjoy :(
