Best Way to Make Thumbnails Stand Out

Im looking on some help and advice to how to make thumbnails stand out and grab a viewers attention.

Bold text, graphics (usually emojis work well) and color but don't over do it. Yours look good!

I would look that you have like your own style. Like something that can get recognized. If you see my thumbnails I always try to use the same font and cut myself out of the background. It gives the channel its style.

Personally I would watch out with standard colors. Such as just a red, a blue and so on. It makes it look a little old school I think. Try to use colors like a light blue, a dark red and so on. There are so many different colors. (I hope you know what I'm trying to say haha)
Also use custom fonts. Go on dafont(dot)com. It has tons of fonts from sans-serif to weird looking ones. Definitely also for your gaming channel

I haven't done much with my thumbnails yet, but I have noticed that channels will find a way to communicate what they're about through their thumbnails. Superfemme channels love muted colours and pastels, supermasculine channels like black/white and primary colours. I'm thinking of doing like a purpley bubbly border for myself, maybe with an oval text area.

If you are using people in the thumbnails show them clear but while doing something.

I put a black border around all the edges of any text in the thumbnail that's on top of a background that isn't a solid color. Usually a photo. The border really helps the text stand out preventing the text from blending in with the background.

Have a picture that has something to do with the video, and bold large, colourful text.

I like to take a moment in the video that really depicts what the video is about and screen capture it. Then bring it into a simple photo editing program and make sure the picture is bright enough and the color saturation is strong enough, this way it looks bold enough to grab the viewers attention. I also agree with Babyteeth4, that using a screen shot where a person is making eye contact with the camera is usually a good thumbnail to use, I think it creates a connection with the viewer that grabs their attention.
