Best Vlogging Lens for YouTube

Hey!

So now that I have joined a forum with like minded creators I hope you don't mind if I get too involved with posting questions. In the end we are all here to learn from each other.

What is the best kind of Vlogging lens to use? I have heard quite a bit about the L lenses ( red circle around the rim ), but I don't know what to use.
I have done a bit of searching and no one seems to be very helpful. Surprising as its the itnernet.

What can give me a wide angled lense and that nice DoF?

It depends if you would like a zoom lens or a prime lens, I would love an L lens but I cant afford one myself. The lens I like to use is a prime and is the f/1.8 28mm EF lens, its a little wide but not too wide and has a shallow depth of field. If I had the money I would get both the 24-70mm 2.8 and the 70-200mm 2.8 L lenses but for video those arent really necessary. Many recommend getting the 50mm 1.8 prime, its well priced and produces excellent results. What lens are you using at the moment and what is your budget?
