Being yourself on YT

Mr Not That Famous
are you yourself on youtube or a character you created to deal with the fact that you are on camera? Me personally, i have created many characters to the point where, they have entered my real life, so basically, they are me now LOL.

No I try to keep it real. I feel personas only work when they're subtle but when people create these larger than life characters, for me personally, it's not always that appealing.

My YouTube character is not me, just a better version with a highlight real. It's what I strive to be as a person, and it has made me a better for it. That and acting is just fun.

I have a good 7-8 of doing public speeches and debates as well as presentations when I was younger, which were on and off camera with audiences, so the fact that there is something recording me is fine.

However, I do feel more pressure, but I guess it will always be like that : )

Well I run a gaming channel so I'm not really on camera, but when I speak or when I make certain actions I be myself. I have a few friends who act completely different online, especially on YouTube and on multiplayer games, than how they actually are in real life

I wrap myself up in toilet paper and scream while recording.

No you do it for a while, after the first couple hundred videos all the pressure is gone. I'm also the type of person that couldn't speak in public without shaking, stuttering, and forgetting half of what I needed to say. Put me in front of a microphone, and I won't shut up now.

I can feel that also. But for me, with my content (and I am sure this can be applicable to other genres in similar content, such as speed drawing or acting and so on) there is always that "you better get this right now, ooooor we have to reset and redo everything again". So you start over complicating things, which is different than being anxious.

The first time I recorded it took me 4 hours just to record, without any mixing and stuff. Now I get everything done in 1-2 takes usually : )
