Audio recording on laptop?

I do a lot or audio and narration, using the Audio Technica AT2020 XLR version. I use the proper phantom power interface, and it runs beautiful using my HP pavillion desktop, I'm wondering if I begin using my HP notebook window's 8, will I see a significant drop in quality?

On a side note, I use the notebook for video editing, and it runs much more powerful than my desktop, and they're both great models.

I meant more powerful in terms of video, it has a better video card!

When I used my Mixing Desk on my Dell Optiplex it got bad 60Hz Hum but on my laptop, it was fine.

Yeah, it didn't happen on any other PC other than my Dell, that was with a 3.5 jack, with USB I have no problems.
