anyone used Dry ice before for a effect?

we would like to make an effect of a potion with smoke coming out the top of glass bottle, and were thinking about using dry ice pellets, but ive never used them before, are they safe? or if there a better way to create this effect?

they work nice for those kind off effects just make sure you use gloves when touching the ice, it can burn your hands with cold

im not sure where you can get some but it is safe as long as you don't touch it with skin

You can buy it at Meijer (at least the ones near us sell it). And like Brodie said, make sure you are wearing gloves because it will burn your hands if you touch it.

I bought Penguin dry ice at Frys for this... notice I had a glove on

amazing, was that in just cold water or hot water? i ask because i hear it bubbling or is that just what the dry ice does?

Just luke warm tap water. The angle I used was pretty stupid, I was hoping it would flow over onto the camera. I might have to try this with my GoPro inside the water....

I once bought a HUGE amount of icecream from an icecream factory, They handled me it with a LOT of dry ice, What did I do ? I played with it, Like any other sane man would do.. It does sting you, If you hold it with your bare hands for too long. And it's perfect for those kind of effects, It's not really dangerous unless you put it in your mouth or on your face. So have fun and be careful
