Anyone (especially animators) have any experience with broadening/transferring their niche?

For a long time I've been tired of only being known/watched for my inflation content. I can't really get people behind anything else. Animation related that is-I'm not talking about switching from cartoons to live-action travel vlogs lol. I want to broaden to a much more general audience throughout 2015, and I've always wanted to animate tons of other things outside of inflation: Parodies, music videos, fight scenes, etc.

Anyone ever run into a similar situation of feeling trapped in a niche? How'd you handle the transition and how long before things evened back out? I've tried to reboot several times only to have the non-inflation stuff slammed with low views and/or dislikes.

That's the hard part, figuring out how to transition smoothly while still being respectful to my current audience (and kindly letting them go if a change causes abandonment). Let me know folks, thanks-thinking over this has been an endless source of stress for me lately.

I've had this problem, except my niches were so far ranged apart (I'm talking from vlogs, to gaming, to edits...crazy)
What I did was had separate channels, and that was fine. It was sort of a hassle managing all of them, but it's worth it if you want to separate your content. However, in your case, if it's just animation, I wouldn't go and create a new channel for a different "genre", per se. I wouldn't be too affected by the dislikes and low-views, because that's going to happen if you lose your audience. That just means you have to find a new one, that will be interested in everything you have to offer. Remember that it's your channel, and what people's interests are have nothing to do with the content on it! Do what you want :)
