Anxious about putting my face on camera?

I'm in the same boat as you OP. I really want to start doing a facecam but I'm nervous that I'm going to look dumb in the recording XD.

Generally creepers aren't the worse thing, you can simply get rid of them. I was all funny when I uploaded my first vlog in case people I knew found it but now I'm cool with it tbh so it does get better with time :)

Oh! I know what you mean! About people you know finding your videos. I don't mind sharing most of my videos though[DOUBLEPOST=1425308271,1425308165][/DOUBLEPOST]
i was the same on my first video, after youve done it the first time, it will feel better and more natural about it, it comes with making more and more videos, dont worry about it :)
Hey! Thanks! This helps >.< I've got a presentation coming up which I'm hoping to record so I'll put that up as my first video[DOUBLEPOST=1425308426][/DOUBLEPOST]
I have never had any problems putting my face on youtube, I'm only worried about my voice, I'm still not sure about if I should speak in my tutorials instead of typing them out. So probably the opposite for me, but I guess we both need to try it out! :p
Yeah that is the opposite! I don't mind speaking as much I used to. Yeah, I used to just type out my instructions in tutorial videos

Awesome! if you film your presentation, you might feel a bit awkward at first, but it will come over the minutes of the video you will start to relax !! im sure youll love it after a couple of them :) good luck ! :D

I make videos where I don't need to be seen. When I can't avoid it I wear base cap and sun glasses and try to stay as far as possible away from the camera. Being on camera helps with audience engagement though but I share your privacy concerns.

I was like that at first too, it just takes some getting used to but I'm glad I took the leap as I feel much more comfortable doing it now :)

There are some big YouTubers that never show their face. There is that Disney Toy girl and you have CGP Grey. For them it seems to work. I only show my face when needed. When doing a tutorial, somethings it doesn't make sense to.

I also found that if it's just me talking to the camera, my audience retention goes down. It seems like my viewers only want to see what I doing or what I'm saying. They don't seem to care what I look like.

I guess depending on your niche you may not even have to show your face. For example, majority of the gamers normally don't show their faces or some of the tech channels also. I would say to continue making videos the way you're currently making them and once you're ready you can always show yourself :)
