Adobe Premiere Confusing?

Im going to switch from sony vegas to adobe premiere pro cc soon and I was wondering... how hard is it to learn how to use premiere? And is it similar to sony vegas or totally different?

It's not a huge difference from Sony Vegas. I made the change a few years ago and it only took me a week or so and a few YouTube tutorials :)

Took me about a day because I was a little familiar with final cut pro read all key commands and watched basic tutorial on main things to do when editing.

I went through this about a couple of months ago; it's not terrible, but not super easy, either. If you already know how to edit with Vegas, then it's pretty much just learning the locations of how to do everything in Premiere. But, for me at least, it was quite frustrating at first, because I was like "I know I need to learn this new program, but I could do this SO MUCH FASTER IF I WAS USING VEGAS!!!" (I can now use Premiere quite quickly, by the way. :winky:)

Premiere is fantastic - and if you really want to ease yourself in you can always change the keyboard shortcuts under Edit - Keyboard Shortcuts to what you had in Vegas.

I switched from Vegas about 5 years ago, and it's been fantastic. Premiere is a far better work horse when it comes to making templates for your videos.

My advice: throw yourself in the deep end. I had a big project on when I first switched, instead of doing the project in Vegas, which I was familiar with, I just tried to follow the same steps I used to do in Vegas using Premiere and After Effects.

From Vegas to Premiere, it's pretty simple :) Premiere is an easy program to learn in general if you have experience with this kinda stuff

I watched half a dozen quick tutorials and am learning more all the time.

It really depends what you're trying to do. If all you want to do is snip together a video it takes 5 minutes to learn.

As already said, it's not really a big of a deal. Just watch some tutorials and try to avoid Sony Vegas. Within a few days or weeks (depends on how fast you learn new stuff) you'll be able to use Premiere Pro just like Sony Vegas :)

I used to use Sony Vegas before and I'm using Premiere now. I'm so much happier with this program and it only took me a few days (about 2-3 YouTube video editings) until I had the hang of it :)

Watching tutorials will help you out a lot! You'll find so many on YouTube! ;)
