This is by no means an "answer to your struggles" type post but I feel that some of this needs to be reinforced (as I know it's been said before). The first thing a prospective gamer channel creator needs to accept is that, yes, there is an over-abundance of gaming channels on youtube. Seemingly thousands of them. But what that prospective (or active) gamer channel content creator needs to realize is that not all of those channels represent a great level of quality. What I mean by that is a good deal of them are channels with a few uploads containing footage captured with a cell phone. That doesn't have staying power. You have a ton of channels that for one reason or another are missing a quality component (good audio, puberty (I say this jokingly but there's some seriousness in there as well). So, yes, it's an uphill battle regardless but you should find some solace knowing that you are striving to compete with quality gaming channels. Make quality an important component of your channel. If there's an AC unit sitting right next to your PC, shut it off when you record. If you don't have AC and you leave the windows open and by chance live by a busy street, close that window when you're recording and suffer in the heat for your channel. Okay, kidding on that last part. Drink plenty of water.
Addendum on being humble: I can't stress enough how important it is to be both humble and generous throughout the entire adventure that is growing your youtube gaming channel. If someone subs you, thank them no matter how many subs or views they get. Comment and/or like their video. A kind gesture goes a long way. {insert quote about people doing stuff for one another and being compensated ten fold}. If you get frustrated about not getting views and/or subs, don't let that hate affect the way you interact with your potential audience. Be kind, rewind and then be kind again.
Don't get lazy. If you start getting a nice amount of views on your channel do NOT become complacent. Respond to every comment on your channel. You don't need to be spiritual to believe in karma. It does exist.
So this ended up being more of a rant than anything with structure, but, I feel it gets my point across albeit in a messy, messy fashion.
Cheers guys,
