A general YouTube question...

I have been wondering why alot of(all of actually) the view i get from friends on facebook and other embedded players do not actually show up as real views in my video stats? I know there is sometimes a delay and all, but i am literally only getting credit for views on just the youtube channel:(

There has been a dramatic change in how YouTube counts views any more. For one thing facebook views seem to be very much delayed when they are counted. For another thing YouTube does a lot more that they used to to decline counting repeat views from anything it views as the same source. So if you school has a lot of people on the same or very similar IP addresses it may view all of your friends as being one person and only count their views once.

I see..the IP thing i can understand, because they want to minimize "click fraud" and all that. A delay makes sense to, since there is aloooot of counting happening at you tube. My biggest point of anger though, was this one place i posted all 20 of my videos.....each one of them got between 5-10 views(it displays the views on the embed) so i was thinking hot diggity 100 new views in a day! Yeah it counted none of them since the viewers most likely just clicked the embed and didn't visit my actual yt. Thanks for the info!!!

I'm pretty sure YouTube still counts embeds too. But I think there has also been a change in how much of the video people have to watch before it's counted as a view rather than a skip. So if you post to a website that counts embed views in some way, it may add to the count as soon as a person clicks, it may count repeat clicks, and it may count web spiders and web crawlers indexing it or who knows what. YouTube only counts it if it gets watched long enough to be counted as a view rather than a skip.

I shall cross my fingers and hope I get a fraction of the 100 or so views in time at least then. Even if i never get credit, i am glad to just know people viewed my videos:)
You ever have issues with certain views not showing up?

Just kidding, they'd break their teeth and I'm too nice for that.[DOUBLEPOST=1415532543,1415532491][/DOUBLEPOST]Oh and it's interesting they're going to such lengths for repeat views yet it still counts your own views. You'd think that would be the first thing they'd fix lol

Yeah lol it always counts my own views(which I try not to do), but not me viewing an embed from facebook from my own computer. Whaaaaaaa? It's an uphill battle getting views already for an upstart channel, but when i do get them, they are mine!!!

All of this is just guess work on my part, but I've noticed after posting a brand new video and then showing it to a few different people around my house on different devices that only the first view is counted because we're all on the same wireless.

Interesting, there is only one internet device here and I think it would keep counting my views but I rarely ever click on my own viddys, lest i anger the youtube gods.

Yeah it definitely has been counting all mine it annoys me cause I tend to watch my videos every time they get a comment (it's weird I try to watch it in context with what the person says lol) but regardless because I do it so much I notice every time that the view counter goes up.
