I use Sony Vegas, i have a Flip Ultra which was my first little video camera. It still works but its in SD. How do i render it to so that it doesnt have the black bars on the side without losing quality? Isnt there a way to just stretch the video a little bit and be alright?

On Vegas, right click on the video that's in the video track and click on properties. Then uncheck "maintain aspect ratio"

Right Click on the video in the the timeline, click "Switches", then untick "maintain aspect ratio", also select "Disable Re-sampling" to take out blurring and "ghosting" when there is motion. Keep in mine up-scaling and stretching can reduce quality.. ;)

I wish I could see what you were talking about. Umm not sure if this is exactly what you're taking about but I would go to the event pan/crop tool and then right click, and click match output aspect ratio.

Ive tried the whole "maintain aspect ratio" and it does not work. I see in my preview window that the bars disappear but when i render it, i upload it and the bars remain.

alright . . .
when you go to render did you uncheck Stretch video fill output frame size (do not letterbox)?
What are the dimensions of the video file vs the dimensions of the rendering settings?
Did you try to event pan/crop thing I suggested?

It must be your rendering settings then or you should do this:

1. Press Alt + Enter and a screen should pop up, copy these settings down 1.png

2. Then go on file, render as and choose the .wmv format wmv format.png

3. Choose any of the options but go on customise then copy the following settings (feel free to change anything if you feel that it's necessary):

hope this helped! :)

I tried rending with the that checked and unchecked, same result.

Unchecked the maintain aspect ratio option, and then go into "File" and "Property" and make the video 1280x720.
