30k subs in a year

I just don't understand how people do this, I just found somebody called OGchan who started youtube the same times as me and has 29k more subs than me. Some of his videos do have a bit of clickbait, but the guy has close to 900 videos! I just don't see how he has been uploading like 2 videos a day for a year and grown so quickly on this platform... I guess you could say its down to hard work, but surely something else has come into play here. Good luck to him, but its just kind of demotivating to see people do so much better than me :/

I have been making videos since 2010. But this current channel has been active since December of 2014. And I only have 500 subs :/ I don't upload s**t compared to some huge youtubers like 30k ish and they all upload the same content, they just sub4sub and view4view. Damn it is a pain in the a**

Ha me and my buddy started our channels (mine was made earlier but when I started taking YT seriously) at the same time and he's at 50k while I'm at 2k. He had better SEO habits and worked harder than me for sure. I'll get to his level soon I'm just enjoying the ride.

I find the biggest reason for such fast growth is usually due to networking and collaborations. Personally, I don't do them, but other people who have similar channels to mine have blown up because they have. Clickbait does work to some extent, but usually isn't a reason to grow that fast. Now, if you upload a whole lot then the chances of your videos being found increase. The more people who see your videos the more potential subs you can gain. Also the more effort you put into your videos the better. It is a bit demoralizing at times, but I try not to compare myself to others. Best of luck!

You know there's always going to be that guy. Don't let it demotivate you, you are already doing great. Get inspired by this guy and use it as motivation, maybe once you'll have more subs than he has.

Sounds like hard work. I know someone else that started about half a year later than me but they are already at 20k subs while I just have 6k. Of course, a little bit of luck that people share their stuff too

ermm ive seen guys start same time as me (nearly 2 months) who have 500+ subs and im stuck at 121 :L i see channels with less than me that i follow who are gaining more than i am a week :L

The irony when the opposite applies to me; good SEO techniques but still way less than a friend who has near-zero SEO but with several thousands ahead.

I guess marketing matters.

Like you said, his 900 videos versus your 140. That's a huge difference and obviously can catch a lot more eyes simply by increasing exposure via large archive of videos. Even if it might seem "easy" to make, the fact is that he's pumping out a significantly larger amount of content. Content is king, and yes, even quantity can trump quality if you go far enough with it.

Outside of that, people can easily obtain 30k subs a year by providing solid content that is worth coming back for more. That's really all there is to it. Youtuber Gamers automatically start in a deeper hole because they're trying to tap into an extremely diluted genre. Trying to differentiate yourself within that genre is something I would never want to attempt.
