10K Subscribers by 2017????

I hope you reach this milestone bro,

Youtube is one of the most unpredictable platforms, it all depends on if you have a breakthrough/gateway video, which can come at any point. 10k subs by 2017 is realistic, from the sound of things you are taking your channel very seriously (which is more that be said for me lol), i have read a few articles on here and it seems youtube growth can be broken down into 3 sections 1. getting to 100 subs, 2. getting to 1000 subs, and 3. Natural growth after reaching 1k.

The gaming realm i have found hard to master, due to the large number of gaming youtubers out here, i think the trick is to perhaps do another type of genre alongside the gaming videos which showcases your personality as a means to help with growth. I have seen steady growth from videos in other genres (like comedy). Also i honestly believe the role of "smaller" channels is to have a 1-1 relationship with your subscribers.

Collaborations are also important (many people seem to neglect this). I wish i had your passion bro honestly! Think i am waaaaaay to relaxed for youtube lol :D

all the best!

Yeah, I also think it is not possible to define goals in Terms of Subs or Views on YouTube.
Rather, try to define goals such as keep uploading for another year or make certain quality improvements or even a certain number of collaborations with other youtubers.
The sky is the Limit when it comes to define goals on YT, but Subs or Views are simply not suitable since you never know when YouTube starts to promote your Videos in serch results or in the related Videos section.

Hydraulic Press Channel got over a million in under a year.... I have just over a thousand subs after almost 9 years. It all depends on the content you put out really.
It all depends on content and what the viewers want. Ryan ToysReview just hit 3 million subs in 1 year. It also depends on what the trends are and how quick you can identify and get on board the trends. Sort of like playing the stock market :) The ultimate thing would be to create something extremely original and start a trend, like HobbyKidsTV did with giant surprise eggs, or Hydraulic Press did.
I basically see it as either:
1. create something original and execute extremely well (half a million $ hydraulic press squashing things, or busting up brand new iphones)
2. identify current trends in your category and climb aboard, adding something new to the trend (Ryan ToysReview did with their giant eggs by adding elements of play and mixing different toys to target multiple keyword combinations)
3. identify 2 to 3 sub-trends, and blend them together. An example of this (in the kids area) would be blending superheroes and frozen elsa in real life, and the princess rap battles.
So anything is possible, but it involves being savvy with what's popular, lots and lots of videos, and all the other 100+ factors talked about on these threads.

10K from nothing is a pretty difficult task, especially if none of your videos go viral. Remember, just because you throw a ton of time and money at it isn't a guarantee you'll become big.

Honestly make your videos good first. Practice and persistence. Once you think you have something special, then worry about the numbers.

I'm sorry but I don't think this goal is realistic, unless you go after a trend early or make an evergreen gateway video. For something generic like vlogs and pranks, organic growth is not that fast! The question is, why set this goal? If you need it to motivate you, that's fine, but what if you find out that you won't reach the goal and it demotivates you?

I'm a firm believer that nothing is impossible and I think you should definitely go for it, since you don't have anything to loose. But, since you asked, I would say that it is unrealistic, but just because I think it's unrealistic doesn't mean much since this is the internet and weirder things have happened. Honestly just go for it, if you don't make the goal this year, there's always next year.

Yeah I have to agree...it is almost impossible to tell things like this. As long as you have a good camera, microphone, constant videos flowing in and an interesting topic you should be good to go.
