Opinions on a Second Channel?

Hey guys!

I'm primarily a mobile gamer, and have amassed a decently sized audience for my time here. I mess around with different types of content from time to time, and am starting to feel I want to do more and more "different" stuff.

I have a lot of.. like pros and cons personally regarding the subject, so I'm reaching out for another perspective.

Pros to a second channel:

Different channel name that better reflects the content (I know I could change my current one, but I don't really want to as it's sort of a brand across all of my social medias).

Not having to deal with current subscriber backlash.

Would most likely be better for the first channel, as it would be more consistent in content. I believe having "different" content would either slow down subscriber growth or make your subscribers "less valuable" since they may only like one thing or the other.

Cons to a second channel:

The obvious starting over aspect (may get a little boost from current subscribers).

Would require more work for less initial returns.

Then I think about people like PewDiePie who totally changed their content (almost never does gaming anymore) and then I wonder if he was simply big enough to survive such a shift. At least 80% of my fan base is there for the mobile games, so just changing content like that, I may as well delete the channel.

Ugh, I'm notorious for over-thinking things I guess, and I don't really expect people to spend their time reading this book, but some suggestions, your thoughts, advice or so would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I have a second channel I never use but I have it for the day I grow to a size where I feel my audience want casual vlogs or just a behind the scenes part of my life. That channel already has a custom url and there for if that day comes.

To be honest I don't think you should be focusing on a second channel until your main channel already has a sizeable audience ( 100k+ ). Just feels kind of pointless

I know what you mean on one hand, but do you think I should just mix in all of the content on one channel? Gaming and commentaries/trending topics don't seem to attract the same audience. I don't know, I'm always trying to find ways to make things more efficient, but overwhelm myself it doing so lol

That's a good idea.

Focus on the one until you know you can manage two is what I say :)

I'm sure I could manage two right now. I post mon-fri on my main, sometimes on weekends if I feel like it. My main problem is that if I were to join the "trending topic-ers" I would probably need to post almost daily just on that channel.

I've moved this to the the Strategies & Technique Advice Forum. =)

Thanks!

Thanks for your responses guys. I'm still not totally sure one way or another. I may just mess around one day and create a second one, upload videos for a month or so and if it totally doesn't go anywhere, I could always slowly transfer them to my main channel, besides the ones that were a trending topic at the time, and no longer are lol.
