If you're not a gaming channel, and you have custom thumbnails, what's the point of a Partnership?

Now that I have custom thumbnails enabled on my channel, I am really not sure if I even need to try to get partnered with a network anymore.
It would be nice to have a custom banner on my page but that's minor in my view.
From what it looks like, I'd make less money. Has anyone researched how much money you can make? Most networks claim that you make more money, but I don't understand how that's possible. Generally when you add a middleman, you lose something in return.
There is the whole thing about being part of a network and receiving support. But I don't know what kind of support I'd need. I've never encountered a problem that I wasn't able to figure out on my own.
My goal is to make the internet (YouTube included) my career, so I want to make the best choices for me, but at this point, I don't even see the point of partnership anymore.

any thoughts?

I can guarantee you will need at some point support or help with your channel once it's partnered, whether it be account strikes, or other technical issues with your partnership. Benefits of being a partner once you have thumbsnails? Partner Promotion, get higher ranked in search results, Shows feature, instant ads from the view first, watch page icon, standard in-steam ads (can't skip), redirection of channel and Google Analytics on your channel. You usually pay 50-60% of your earnings go to Google when you are partnered straight with youtube or just have monetization enabled. So you usually don't lose anything or it's higher than Adsense

To be honest, I feel that being part of a network is a lot better than being a partner straight from youtube. It's not really a middleman because once you're part of a network, they handle you and they are the ones that pay you. Youtube no longer has control over your channel basically. All those ads that are on a person's channel will be from the network, not youtube. So, take us for example. We have been partnered through TGN and they said they are the ones who provide the ads and actually pay more for them. So as GKart64 said Youtube pays 50-60 percent of the revenue that you make, TGN pays 80 percent and the regular $2-$3 CPM cap is different for TGN. It varies, meaning that you can get an ad that pays $10 CPM. So basically you are better off with a partnership through a network. Try fullscreen.net because my brother is partnering through that network! And hope everything will go well with your YouTube career!! Have a good Sunday!

I'll be interested to see what I make at the end of my first full month with fullscreen.net. I hope its over $100 as I was making over that per month with adsense and no partnership. So far in the 2 weeks I have been partnered with them I haven't noticed any change...but then again its only been 2 weeks.

One thing I don't like is not being able to see what I made per day and how many clicks I got like you could thru the adsense dashboard, how do I know fullscreen isn't cheating me??

Maker Studios ( + RPM & TGS) is the first and only network so far, that provides complete transparency to their partners of what they earned ( data from youtube).

Search google: "Maker Studios Transparency" for articles about the topic.

Thank you for the info but I'm locked into fullscreen for 24 months... :|

I would like to point out that Networks like Fullscreen/Machinima/... and many other Networks had done that already Months before Maker Studio but just didn`t made a big Buzz about it.

Why should they? If someone is earning enough to actually make it possible that someone of the Staff at Fullscreen/Machinima/... get`s their salary for each Month paid so they can keep him in the team then I would assume it that it`s his f*****g damn right to see those Details on his YouTube Channel.

And even if someone doesn`t see his earnings on his YouTube Channel many Networks have found a different Way to show your daily earnings, at least as long YouTube doesn`t screw it up again and delay their damn Database for Weeks because of some Server Upgrade...

My goal is to make the internet (YouTube included) my career, so I want to make the best choices for me, but at this point, I don't even see the point of partnership anymore.

First at all it`s nice to see that someone does actually know where he want to go because when I ask most new YouTuber they don`t know it or are unsure or some other b******t.

As you have mentioned already before. If you don`t need that Banner you won`t need to join to join any Network at least the first few Months since at least at the current point every Network would cut your earnings and therefor it`s, at least at the current point totally unnecessary to join any Network.

Focus on your Content. Try to pin down in which direction you wanna go with your Channel, stay unique & fresh for as long as possible, over the time upgrade your equipment instead of spending the earned Money for some useless stuff you regret after a few Months since it doesn`t bring you forward, the next upcoming Months it might be hard but if you just kept pushing yourself and try to stay out of troubles (Unpaid Bills so your Internet get`s cut,....) it will for sure pay off some Day.

Thanks for the tips.

I didn't even know that networks didn't let you see your statistics. What? That seems like a basic privilege. lol that alone will keep me from joining most of these things.

I was blinded by the excitement of becoming partnered that I didn't bother to research it much. If given a second chance I don't think I would have accepted the partnership until I felt like I maxed out what I could do on my own.

It was exciting seeing improvements every time I uploaded a new video.

Overtime You can see any kind of statistics and graphics, and every 30 days your monthly income. Takes a little time
