Why is my channel now growing?

I am not sure where to put this thread and the first time I made a thread similar to this last week, the mods took it down for some reason.
Anyways. I've been stuck at under 30 subs for the past 2 months. Any ideas on why this is?

What do you do to promote your channel?

There are so many factors going into whether your channel grows or not. Some you can control, and some you cannot. Here are some of the things you can control, to get you on the track to success:

  • Create content consistently and well. Make videos you want to see, and upload on a schedule that your subscribers can count on. Don't go for long periods without uploading, and don't spend more time apologizing for missing uploads than making great content.
  • Improve your craft with every video. Make it a goal to light things better, write better scripts, use better camera angles and techniques, edit videos better, etc. Nobody wants to see channels stuck in beginner mode.
  • Use good SEO strategies, like very detailed descriptions, long tags, and appropriate titles.
  • Promote your channel where it's appropriate to do so, and promote it regularly. When you upload a video, notify your social media channels that your video is there, and/or embed it into those places. Get people excited about your content.
  • Be kind and engage with your community. When someone comments on your channel, thank them and comment back. Treat the people who have bothered to subscribe and comment like the gift they are, because they'll be your biggest champions.
I hope this is helpful! Good luck! You can do it!

What @xingcat said! Your subscriber count won't go up if you're not doing anything new. For the time being, focus on new content and get some out there - be sure to promote as and when you can and then assess your situation from there. It took me forever to reach 100 subscribers and it was super frustrating, but I got there in the end! Ultimately, it's all about patience. You'll get there. Watch your favourite YouTubers and take notes. What are they doing right? What makes their content the kind of content you'd like to see?

The best thing you can do to gain new subscribers is to put out more content. :) Most channels, and especially most gaming channels, grow very slowly in the beginning. It took me three months to get to a hundred subscribers - and I only made it that quickly because one of my videos went viral in month 3.

While I pretty much second and third and fourth what everyone else has said, I would say that I feel personally that going around and trying to self-promote through social media is probably working harder, rather than smarter...I'd say it's much better to focus on SEO...in particular, making sure (especially as a newer youtuber) that you're targeting long-tail keywords, since it's unlikely that you'll rank in the first page for the shorter, more obvious keywords.
