I'm using an older version of Cyber PowerDirector (v8) and I filmed a video in HD with my new camera. It looked awesome when I watched the raw .wmv file on my computer.
However, when I was finished editing the video, it exported as a .wmv at the highest HD setting and came out looking worse than what I'd started with. I'm thinking about just getting a new video editor--but is there anything I can do to minimize this problem? Any free editing programs that won't do this?

You should review your export settings, maybe kbps rate low, hard to tell without seeing what kind of settings you have to set before exporting.
