Sony Vegas Rendering Issue

Alright, I figure most people don't have this problem but I haven't found a way to fix it yet so here we go.

When using Sony Vegas, i render with Mainconcept AVC/AAC most of the time using OpenCL acceleration, however the Mainconcept driver doesn't utilise my R9 290x because its too new. Apparently some bright spark over there decided to hard-code a check for the different AMD architectures instead of developing a generic acceleration algorithm and therefore OpenCL acceleration only activates on anything up to a HD6XXX I think.

Now i also have my old HD5670 installed in my PC, no Xfire or anything. But I'm having trouble getting Sony Vegas & Mainconcept to use it with its OpenCL option, It worked fine on its own, and the catalyst drivers (using 13.12) aren't new enough to stop supporting the HD5xxx series.

It seems that what happens is that Vegas or Mainconcept only checks one GPU for OpenCL compatibility before reverting back to CPU only option.

Does anyone know of a way that I could get Vegas to actually utilize my GPU? Its becoming rather annoying when I cant do anything because my CPU is being raped.

P.s. I can multitask on my PC if I assign Vegas to only utilise 4 threads on my i7, but it lengthens the already annoying slow process.

Thanks in advance.

Use the Sony AVC. That's what I'm using right now. Doesn't work well though as it only uses 30% of my 280X (I used to have HD 6950. that's a lot faster) and my cpu went down from 100% to 70%,

Its not so much vegas as the codec it uses, sony's version of it seems to work slightly better, at least its more stable. I haven't gotten familiar with adobe premiere so I use vegas atm.

The other option is to build myself a rendering rig using my old hardware and a hdd, i would probably need a new monitor or a monitor switcher but it might be my best option until mainconcept gets its act together
