Song Parody?

Hello there, I apologize in advance if this is the wrong forum

I was wondering if we are allowed to do video parodies or if they will just be immediately removed. I found an instrumental of the song that someone made (it sounds slightly different than the original) and they have it available for covers and such as long as I credit him and I would change all the lyrics and not monetize it

does anyone know if this is a really bad idea or not?

You can't argue fair usw unless you go to a court of law. It's in the fine print somewhere.

If you can't make your own instrumental, you need to make sure you have permission to use that track.

Technically, parody needs to make fun of the original if you want to use the actual definition. You can't just use their song and talk about something random, there needs to be satire about the original. That's not to say many people care about this, or YouTube either.

YouTube can and might take it down, or the people who own the original might. It depends on who made it and how much they want parodies crushed. Usually this only happens with super new popular songs, like those in the top 5 on the iTunes charts. Are they right to do so? Maybe not, but they can, and then you can argue with YouTube, which puts the problem on YOU.

Of these three points, focus on the first. You're asking for trouble from more than one party if you're stealing someone else's track of another person's song.
