Problems building an audience.

I would second that don't upload that much at first. It's funny I get more subs and views when I don't upload than when I do. It's weird. Maybe they have time to miss me LOL!

Why?
Because you need to get people to want to wait for the next episode therefore they will subscribe so that they can get notified and excited about when it is coming out. This would give time for them to comment on your videos and engage in a conversation.
. If you were to post everyday then the viewers won't have the need to wait and might eventually lose track.

I uploaded a few videos and then left my youtube account for a year without even logging in! I lost interest and forgot about it!
Came back and saw a healthy number of views and subs - enough to get me partner status! Since then I've been a bit more regular, but I still create and upload without any routine. Sometimes several together and sometimes one in a month!
Doesn't seem to have hurt me too much.......I think! Lol
 
Yea we're considering making a schedule for everyone to upload so the channel will look more professional, and won't be so many videos going up in one day.
 
I'm so happy I joined this forum! It makes me feel a lot better about myself and my work. I've been around youtube for a long time (got 2 channels - one of them is 1 week old the other 1 year and a half) It's very hard to get subscribers and viewers. Sometimes I feel like there are so many big sharks out there that the small fish are useless. But i love making youtube videos, i like being part of the community. Hopefully it will get better. My only advice is to keep trying! Succeeding without trying doesn't exist. Good luck to everyone!
