Is it normal for someone to have to postpone their kickoff date? The other team member of my channel is getting over a sickness, and we haven't been able to record. So we decided to postpone our kickoff for another 2 weeks, so we can have everything ready to go. We could have easily threw a video together, but we both said that's not what our future fans deserve. We want to give it our 110%

Has any one else ever had to postpone their kickoff date for their channel?
 
I postpone my kickoff date all the time.

I think my channel says we were gonna start on like, June 27th or something like that, and obviously that didn't happen. Though for me it's more laziness than anything else.
 
We still have a few things that we need to do, but basically we just have to start recording and editing. I didn't want to record with the other member of my channel since he is sick, it makes me feel better that other people have postponed their kick off date.
 
Nothing wrong with it just as long as it doesn't turn into a habit. If you do it once it's easy to think, let's postpone it because I think this or that could be better. Pick a new date and stick to it.
 
Unless you have hundreds of thousands of folks who have been hitting refresh on their computers waiting for you first video, I think you will be fine. ;) Starting off, I think it is important to go at a pace you are comfortable with and enjoy rather than turning YouTube into a job on day one. That being said, if it is fear of everything not being perfect, don't ever let that slow you down. If you feel like making a video, then make one! Only way to get better is to get started.
 
Lol, I'm still doing that right now on my vlog channel. I wanted to do a re-launch but I got really sidetracked this whole summer because I'm recording an EP.
 
Release stuff when you're proud of it. If you put a lot of effort into your content, then put it out when it's ready, especially when first starting out.
 
Yea we both said, we would rather give our viewers content that we put all that we had into it. I don't ever want to do half of the job, and then say here is our finished project, and it look like a toddler put it together. Hopefully this week we can record and edit what we need.
 
I doubt if anyone else will tell you this. Your first video might be the most unimportant video you do. YouTube is geared toward the most recent video you put out. Your first video will be buried at the bottom of your feed in a hurry. How "good" your first video is only helps so much when launching a channel-unless you have a million dollars for an advertising campaign. What matters on YouTube is consistency. Set a schedule and stick to it. You might even want to delay your launch until you have 2-3 videos ready to go. And don't worry so much about your first video.
 
When we do our kickoff launch, we've already planned on having two videos. I want to be able to upload at lease 2 videos a week, possibly more. My goal is at least two videos for now.
