Hi everyone, jusy joined the site. I want to start my own website on automotive journalism and have all my vids linked to to youtube, this site seems to be the place to answer all my questions.

First off. what do you recomend for a video camera that would be ideal for making vids to post on utube. things i would like answered are?

- what the ideal recording format for editing and uploadeding to youtube.
- and high def recording. do you recommend high def files, or are the files too big cause of the high def format which I assume makes uploading take a lot longer. any advice is appricated.

I have a sony HD MHS-PM1 I like it but it seems like it is always zoomed in more than a normal camera would be. Before I bought this one...which was 60 dollars I was using my digital camera a kodak easy share. That was 90 dollars. It worked great until I dropped it and now the mic will not work. I do believe my video quality was better with the Kodak. Now a days you really do not need a big expensive camera. Heck I have seen tons of people just use there iPhone. I have always used windows live movie maker to save my videos before upload to youtube. This morning I tried to upload a video I edited with Lightworks and it said it would be 900 mins. Popped it into Windows Live Movie maker and it uploaded in 40.

If you have seen any of my videos you would know I am in the market to buy a camera too :)

It all depends on what you want to do with your videos and how much your willing to spend on a camera.

I might be in the market for a new camcorder soon, as well.
I really don't want to spend $200 on one. So something less than that would be great.

I think any HD capable camera would do. But for size sake and time of upload, I wouldn't upload anything higher than 720
