Yeah it's pretty pointless now to get a partner background since that will all be gone on the 22nd of this month.

The layout is changing on the 22nd. Everyone will have a youtube banner and the background won't be customizable. Plain, ugly, white.

Networks offer all kinds of legal protection in money. Your protected from click-bombing and all that crap. If your in it for the money, it's not pointless.
