So I wanted the thumbnail feature for my videos and I did the youtube partnership deal. Will this ruin my chances for joining a network?

Nope . Basically once you are verified through YouTube any one is considered a partner. So that is why they allow custom thumbnails for everyone . Well as long as there is no copyright .
