How is being a "suggested video" determined?

So I have a very small channel still. No real popular videos. But I've been watching my YouTube analytics just because I like to see how people viewing my videos and where from. Today I noticed that I was actually a suggested video for random video that (to my knowledge) I am not related to in any form.

Can someone explain to me how I become a suggested video or what determines being suggested? I always thought it was related content.

Here is a screenshot from what I am talking about. My video is the Review video and the suggested video is the one listed on top.

The short answer to your question is: NO - nobody can tell you exactly/accurately how a video becomes suggested because Youtube wont tell us for fear that if we knew, it would get abused out of existence..
Most guesses revolve around basing it on what other videos a viewer "likes" and watches that are similar (based on keywords in title, description and tags) as yours but obviously it goes deeper.

Anyone giving you any more specific information is either guessing or wishing, unless they can provide a link to YouTube's statement backing up whatever they say..

That makes sense. I can understand them no wanting it to be abused. But what if there is a moment when YouTube makes your video a suggested video on content that you don't like or are against? How would you know and would you be able to do anything against it? [emoji848]
