I have only used Sony Vegas, so I wouldn't know.
But I'm perfectly satisfied with Sony Vegas, so I won't bother changing to something else.

Sony Vegas if you're a beginner
Premier Pro if your more advanced

Sony Vegas if you are a beginner and only intend to do video edits. Premier Pro if you intend to do much more for your video editing such as doing special effects (in After Effects) or clean up audio tracks (in Audition). Yes there are alternative programs for those but since Premiere Pro belongs in the Adobe family, it works seamlessly with other members. In simple words, its adviseble to learn Premier Pro.
