Do you record audio seperate from video?

I have a pretty decent audio setup at the moment. Audiotechnica 2035 Mic, and a Scarlett 2i2 interface. I was looking to record some videos in the future, and since they'll mostly be sit-down talking/skit/challenge type videos, I didn't see much of a point in investing in another mic for my camera.

Do any of you do something similar for your videos? Is it a pain in the a** to edit?

I only do gameplays and record screen/webcam with OBS and it has a setting to split all the audio into different tracks which makes everything simple to deal with. I find it easier to edit when everything is on its own because you can mix all the different volume's better without things clashing, and if one audio gets corrupted you don't lose your entire recording over it.

You could just do voice overs or "dubs" on your skits so you don't need to get a 2nd mic, that's an option I suppose.

I would but at the moment been a teenager MONEY is hard to come by so I record my voice with the game

I usually record gameplay with OBS and use Audacity to record just my voice, since I tend to be a little quiet and I'm able to turn myself up when editing.

I find it so much easier to record my audio seperate from the gameplay, for the simple fact that if i want to turn my audio up and put the game audio down, at least they wont change at the same time :) you have more control that way :D
