Hey Guys! So I just finished planning my videos ideas for next month, and I'm about to go on for the September but then I stopped and asked? Is this normal? So my question for you guys is, do you plan your videos for the current month and on end or do u just do it weekly, or do you just not plan your videos at all?

Also how many videos do you film a week/day if you preplan/film?

I start out with maybe a rough central idea, maybe for like the first scene, then i go from there and just make stuff on the spot. i rarely plan everything i put in my videos.

Hi

I've moved your thread to the strategy / technique forum. :)

I usually decide on the topics of my next 3-4 videos in advance and then work on them one by one and then repeat the process.

I upload one video a week so I tend to live at a week-to-week basis. Sometimes if I have a lot of ideas (so never) I will pre-plan the general concept but never the specifics. PROCASTINATION! :)

We've got multiple projects going at the same time.
There's a giant surprise egg series we've got planned out to cover the next 10 eggs.
There's a dozen Thomas trains videos planned for each day next week.
There's also a new 'freaky toys' series we film a video for every 2-3 days.
And we've got a backlog of 30 videos that were filmed during our overseas trip that are released over the next 6-8 weeks.
So ye, lots of short term plans, mid- and long-term projects all happening at the same time.
The reason for this is it's quite difficult to find some toys and props that are needed. Could take weeks to accumulate specific toys for a video and scout locations and wait for good weather.

I have lots of ideas, but I need to get better on planning out how to get the ideas onto film. The ideas involve me stretching my abilities more so I'm a bit intimidated and procrastinating. Basically, right now, I don't plan all that well. It's more like, "Oh crap, I need to get a video made."

I make sketch comedy and tell stories about my life. The sketches definitely require writing and planning, but maybe the stories shouldn't. My early couple of stories have been scripted and I'm thinking about just taking an idea and winging it, hopefully giving the video a more natural feel. So I do both.:smile22:

I dont tend to write out a detailed plan as such as I sort of follow the news. But I do have pre-planned video ideas that are I guess filler episodes between big news stories or events.

Recently Australia had an election so I had planned out a series of 3-4 videos based on the lead up and aftermath.

That has been probably my most stringent use of planning. I had 1 video in that group "break out" for me (not huge but huge in the scheme of my other videos) so it probably helped that I had videos all based and planned around this event.

I do write a script and have a general plan about what type of videos i wanna make! But I dont really plan it out fully a month before tho

Doing news topics, I just tend to wing it. Wish I had more time to write out a script for every video, but when things are topical, you have to strike while the iron is hot.
