Do longer videos get higher cpm?

Just a silly question that bugged me.

For example, you're uploading 20mins videos and your average watch time are like 6mins-10mins. Are you going to earn more from that or it doesn't matter?

I was wondering if it was the opposite, because I guess it's likely people will watch more % wise of a short video than a long one, does that reduce your earnings?

Sort of, I was expecting some boost because I am going to host a monthly giveaway. The giveaway video is just only $1, and my earning does not even hit $2. I mean, I advertise it through adwords, but some people watch it because I told them to join. Not sure if it was a bug.:/

The length of a video does affect cpm, but to a very little extent. CPM actually depends on two factors which are playback times and advertisements. I've made many short videos which get the same CPM value as my longer videos, so in conclusion the length can affect CPM but it's not too significant ^_^

yes it does if a video is 1 or 2 mins long i all ways find i get almost 90% less monitzed views on the, i find a video needs to be over 5 to 6 mins to get more monetized hits i don't know why but this is true i have a lot of experience in this sort of thing, also when a video is over 10 mins you can put mi roll add and end post roll ads, i find if your audience per video is low then putting the standard adds on works best for monetized hits

My giveaway video is just a minute video, and I almost did not earn from its 6,000 views.:/ I guess next time I should make it atleast 5 minutes.
