Hey guys!

I am VERY interested in adding a facecam to my videos. I already have all the necessary equipment, but not sure how to record. Currently I have been recording the face cam and gameplay separately then adding them together in windows movie maker, but that takes FOREVER!

Any advice?

Swany, Like Therealzomnieslayer said you could buy Vegas, however since Im guesing you do computer gaming, I highly reccomand Camtasia, It is easy to edit with and use webcam, only downside is it only renders to 720p, but it still looks nice

If you're sure you want to add facecam, you could always record using OBS.
This lets you add facecam during the recording, although that means it's baked into the output file, so no adjusting it afterwards. You really have to make sure it's set up the way you want it before recording.

The way I have been doing this is recording my face cam using my video camera and capturing game via Action and then using Premier Elements 12, lining up the 2 shots so what I am talking about matches game play. Not sure if thats the best way or not

I actualy have experiance with both premiere and vegas and if i was you i would go with the option that is the cheapest for you.
on the ground of facecam it is the smartest thing to record sepratly but if possible use the same hot key if that is not possible try doing a countdown in front of your video's so you can line them up.
a other good thing is getting a recorder that can record facecam like @Epicurus gave as a example "mirillis Action!" is a good option or "XSplit Gamecaster" or "Xsplit broadcaster" do also have this option,

Here's how I do it:

-Logitech web cam
-Audacity (recording mic)
-Fraps

1. Start webcam recording
2. Start Audacity recording
3. Open game or alt tab back into it.
4. Say "Ready....START"
5. Press key to start Fraps recording right after you say "START". Then do your gameplay commentary.
6. In your editor, add in your fraps footage, your audacity file (exported to .wav), and your webcam footage.
7. Overlap all 3 things together and match up the audio from Audacity, and your webcam footage.
8. Once your webcam and audacity audio is matched up, cut out the beginning until right after when you say "START."
9. Align audacity audio/webcam tracks along with the beginning of the fraps footage and the audio will be in sync.
10. Delete your webcam audio track so you are using your audacity audio.

This is exactly what I do indeed! Best way to do it in my opinion!
