So I recorded some games with Dxtory, and built (rendered) the file with the following settings in Dxtory:
Video Codec: No encode
Audio Codec: PCM 48000hz
The videos play perfectly fine but neither Sony Vegas or Camtasia will allow me to add the files and edit them.
Not too familiar with all the different ways DxTory records, but perhaps you could give us some more details on the videos?
Video players tend to have more compatibility for viewing than editors do for editing.
A variable frame rate recording could cause issues. And perhaps those editors do need some sort of codec. Running it through a program like handbrake might help.
Try downloading and installing the Combined community codec pack. Most likely the problem is Sony Vegas is not willing to allow you to import the h.264 encoded files. Either that or move to Premiere Pro.
