Hi all, I'm wondering how to contest some recent monetization disabling YouTube's been inflicting on my channel.

I write and direct original music videos parodying video games and characters, which is a reasonably clear definition of 'fair use.'

A number of my videos (primarily the most successful ones) recently lost their ads once I left IGN's network, and after attempting to submit my "proof of rights," I received back an automated-ish email informing me YouTube couldn't "verify" that I owned the rights. At least two of my videos no longer allow me to even contest this, despite previously being fully monetized without problems.

Does anyone have any clue what I can do to fix this? Super duper frustrated and losing income all at once! >_<

I can answer that question :D! If you left the network like stated then there's your answer! You have to have legal rights to use content or partial copywrited content such as videogame backgrounds or footage.

Here's the issue. When you're part of the network, all of the revenue made on your channel divides between the network and what ever third party company allowing you to have the rights to distribute. The rest of the revenue goes to you, the channel owner. The moment you leave the network, those rights are revoked, and the networks notify youtube of the change. to avoid legal issues, ads are removed as a result. The end

Sorry if you're sad, but the truth hurts more than being kicked in the ballz.
